Joanna’s practice focuses on bankruptcy, consumer law and residential real property litigation. She has combined her expertise in real estate and consumer law to assist clients in refinancing debt and salvaging homeownership, and has over 15 years of counseling attorneys handling federal Truth-in-Lending compliance, and landlord tenant matters. In addition to her experience as staff attorney for the Volunteer Lawyers Project, intern for the National Consumer Law Center and staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society of NW North Carolina, Joanna has launched several legal community initiatives to aid pro se litigants, including attorney for a day projects in Boston Housing Court and the Central Division of the Boston Municipal Court.
Joanna has served as a clinical law adjunct at the Wake Forest University School of Law and regularly contributes at the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Center, the Massachusetts Bar Association as well as the Boston Bar Association on such subjects as affordable housing, elderly homeownership options, federal law affecting foreclosures and mortgage contracts and consumer bankruptcy. Joanna earned her JD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
